Moscow Film Society: Midsommar

Wednesday, May 6 at 7 PM

“Midsommar is no slouch on chills, but they creep up slowly, like a bad trip from one of the Swedes’ festive glasses of hallucinogenic tea, and are leavened with an occasional dash of humor. ”
— Sara Stewart, New York Post
You’re officially invited to the Moscow Film Society’s 4th Birthday Party! Enjoy a free screening of MIDSOMMAR (to make up for our canceled screening due to technical issues)! But that’s not all… we’ve got movie trivia, poster sale, cake (duh), and a bunch of other awesome stuff lined up. Doors open at 6:15 PM so you can arrive a little early to eat some cake, buy some posters, play some trivia and hang out. See you there!
Moscow Film Society presents MIDSOMMAR as part of their Creeping Dread series. A couple travels to Northern Europe to visit a rural hometown’s fabled Swedish mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. Ambitious, impressively crafted, and above all unsettling, Midsommar further proves writer-director Ari Aster is a horror auteur to be reckoned with.
