KPAC presents THE PLAYER as part of a special event discussing the current SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. A Hollywood studio executive is being sent death threats by a writer whose script he rejected, but which one? Bitingly cynical without succumbing to bitterness, THE PLAYER is one of the all-time great Hollywood satires — and an ensemble-driven highlight of the Altman oeuvre.

Actor Michael Kostroff (known for roles in “The Wire” and “Billions”) and writer Benjamin Flores will join us via Zoom for an introduction to the film and its relevance to the ongoing strikes within WGA and SAG-AFTRA. This engaging discussion will be facilitated by Kenton Bird, a professor at the University of Idaho.
