Science on Screen: Rushmore

Tuesday, April 23 at 7 PM

KPAC presents RUSHMORE as part of our Science on Screen® series, showcasing films with introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine. Tenth grader Max Fischer is Rushmore Academy’s most extracurricular student—and its least scholarly. He faces expulsion and enters into unlikely friendships with both a lovely first-grade teacher and a melancholy self-made millionaire. Set to a soundtrack of classic British Invasion tunes, Rushmore defies categorization, capturing the pain and exuberance of adolescence with wit, emotional depth, and cinematic panache.
Inside the Teenage Brain
In Rushmore, Wes Anderson captures both the folly and superpower of youth. WSU neuroscientist, Dr. Kristen Delevich, will discuss what the latest research tells us about the inner workings of the teenage brain.
An initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
