KPAC presents PERFECT BLUE, newly remastered in 4K. Mima Kirigoe, a former pop idol, reinvents herself as an actress by taking on a disturbing role and releasing a provocative photo book. Her transformation unsettles fans, her manager, and even herself, especially as a stalker emerges and murders follow. Haunted by doubt and confronted by ‘the other Mima,’ she begins to question her sanity and identity.

Perfect Blue, the directorial debut of Satoshi Kon, is hailed as the first animated film to deliver authentic psychological suspense. Released in Japan in 1998 and celebrated at international festivals, it blurs the lines between fiction and reality, dreams and delusions, and cyberspace and identity.
