Art House Theater Day: Nights of Cabiria

Thursday, July 24 at 7 PM

“Through [Masina’s] unforgettable performance, Cabiria will endure as long as anyone cares to watch transcendence projected on a screen.
— Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
KPAC presents NIGHTS OF CABIRIA as part of Art House Theater Day. In their fifth collaboration, Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masina created one of cinema’s most unforgettable characters: Cabiria, a spirited, independent sex worker navigating heartbreak and hope in postwar Rome. Nights of Cabiria earned Masina Best Actress at Cannes and won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, Nights of Cabiria brought the early, neorealist-influenced phase of Fellini’s career to a transcendent close with its sublimely heartbreaking yet hopeful final image, which embodies, perhaps more than any other in the director’s body of work, the blend of the bitter and the sweet that define his vision of the world.
Art House Theater Day is an annual celebration of art house and indie theaters. Head to your local art house annually for a day of special screenings and exceptional cinematic experiences.
